Guerline Earrings

$19.00

How could these coconut disc earrings not make their way into your jewelry box? The Guerline Earrings are made by Haitian artisans that utilize unused parts of harvested coconuts so nothing goes to waste.

Named after Guerline, a talented Haitian seamstress who has been a member of our artisan team since 2013.  In the earthquake of 2010, she lost an arm when a wall collapsed on her.  She was forced to relearn basic tasks such as buttoning her shirt, with only one hand.  She taught herself how to hand-sew the outer edges of a wallet using her good arm to stabilize the product and her teeth to pull the needle through.  Over 55% of our Haitian Artisans have some sort of disability; many amputees from the earthquake.  Guerline shares that she has experienced a lot of hope working with other women that can relate to her situation.

Details: 2 in long, coconut, gold plated brass
